The University of Guyana Foundation (UGF) is a registered charitable, non-profit, non-partisanorganization whose mission is to support the development of the University of Guyana (UG). In June2018, UG’s Council approved the establishment of the Foundation, based on a proposal by then-DeputyVice-Chancellor, Philanthropy, Alumni and Civic Engagement (PACE) Professor Paloma Mohammed. InOctober 2020, the Council also approved and appointed the first set of Trustees of the Foundation’sBoard chaired by Chancellor Professor Edward Greene. The Board in turn appointed the late Mr. YesuPersaud as the first Honorary Patron in recognition of his tangible contribution to the inauguration of theFoundation in February, 2021.UGF is governed by a Board made up of 12 Trustees and a maximum of 6 ex-officio members. It iscomplemented by UGF Associates in Canada, The Caribbean, UK and USA. 
The Board at its meeting in October 2025 appointed Honorary Patrons of the Foundation drawn fromdistinguished professionals to provide advice and lend their good names to support UGF’s mission andobjectives.
